Due to NSW Premier’s restrictions on construction from 19 July 2021 our Warehouse will be closed until 2 August 2021. Unfortunately we are unable to schedule pick-ups or deliveries of decking boards during this time.
Having a long history means we have observed and participated in product development as the industry has taken an increasing share of decking and screening materials markets.
Our product range now contains only solid composite products; hollow decking in particular has in some cases developed problems after a few years.
In the last five years there has been further developments leading to a co-extrusion third generation of WPC and other composites. DECKER recognises the importance of supplying quality products that meet customer requirements and expectations. Consequently, in the last two years after thorough research and testing, our headline ranges:
Whilst we still supply the “economy” product DECKER DESIGN, manufactured to order, our emphasis in now on the above new ranges.
Initially, first generation products were a combination of wood waste and binders and had limited strength and mechanical properties. However, technology moved forward in the 1990’s in conjunction with the extrusion manufacturing process.
The commercialised wood plastic composites are referred to as the second generation; typically a combination of wood waste and polyethylene, these products have good mechanical properties, high dimensional stability and can be used to produce complex shapes.
The decking market rapidly became the major use for such composites. Decking boards were consistently coloured and embossed with woodgrain patterns to mock timber looks, like our now superseded DECKER DESIGN range. However, these WPC products whilst low maintenance, were subject to fading and staining.
Co-extruded decking was developed to apply a protective coating to the WPC core to reduce fading and staining. Decker investigated these new products and moved quickly to introduced a range of co-extruded decking in 2018, DECKER PROTECT. With the woodgrain pattern integrated into the board profile and colour mixing, co-extruded products looks much more like varnished or stained timber and have no fade no stain properties
As technology improves, DECKER consistently looks to introduce new and better decking boards. The most recent technology developments has been to product strong composite decking boards using other materials. PERLABOARD, initially sold by DECKER in 2019 was developed to commercialisation over many years based upon a combination of PVC ( not HDPE) and Calcium Carbonate ( not wood).
With a new material, ASA co-polymer, capping the co-extruded core and proprietary colour mixing, the new products are 40% lighter than WPC decking, look much more like natural timber and have a hard stain and scratch resistant finish. Also much better slip and fire resistance characteristics. This is now the best plastic decking money can buy!
